What We’re Doing
So, every other month I organize a Virtual Movie Night for my friends! Since we can’t actually go out and see eachother at school and such, this is a way we can hang out while being safe. For the first one, we watched Forrest Gump as a positive start to the school year. In October (for my birthday) we watched Clue (1985). Both events went great! Along with organizing the movie, I also put together a little basket with snacks, trinkets, themes from the movie! For the Clue Basket, I assigned everyone a character (Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, etc.) and I included a hat of that color, and a game piece pertaining to the weapon that character used!
Now, for December, we are doing a Christmas- themed movie (TBA), so I need to create a similar basket. I have many things to make for it, but today we are just making one- a snow globe ornament! I am going to walk you through step by step how to make it, as it is really easy! So scroll down, read the rest, and watch the video!
Materials
Since this is a craft, you don’t need to use the exact materials listed- this is just a baseline! Feel free to get creative with this, and make it your own! Gifts are better when they’re personal, and come from you.
You will need
-Faux snow (styrofoam, cotton balls, etc. Anything that resembles fluffy snow! I used mini styrofoam balls, but I would recommend using cotton, since it’s easier to handle.)
-Clear ornament (you can get these at any craft store, but I would recommend buying them at the Dollar Store, since you get them at a cheaper price.)
-Hot glue gun (This is a must. Regular glue will not work- you need something strong to attach the pieces.)
-Little Trinkets (These consist of what you are going to put inside of your ornament. At the Dollar Store, I found little village pieces, so I bought tiny trees, lampposts, and benches! This is where you get creative.)
-OPTIONAL- Spoon Or Funnel (You will use the spoon to help get the snow inside of your ornament. The funnel will help make sure none of it spills out.)

Instructions
Okay, now that you’ve gathered your materials, you can start putting your ornament together.
- Take your clear ornament and twist off the lid. Turn the lid over so the edges are facing up.
- Hot glue your trinkets onto your lid (with the edges facing up.) Make sure you leave enough room on the sides so you can twist the lid back on later! Set this part aside when finished.
- Get the snow inside of your ornament. There is no right or wrong way to do this. You can use a funnel, a spoon, or just dump it in. Personally, I used a spoon. I scooped up my snow, entered it into the ornament, and then dumped it once it was completely inside.
- Twist your lid back on! Once it is sealed on tight, flip your ornament over and you will find that you have created a beautiful snow globe ornament!

Final Thoughts, Tips, and Suggestions
See, that wasn’t too hard! Ornaments like these are quick to create, but make for incredibly thoughtful gifts that friends and family are destined to love!
-If you want to, you can include water in yours to make it like a real snow globe. But bear in mind, this makes the whole process a lot longer. You have to add disinfectant to the water so that it doesn’t mold, you have to make sure the trinkets inside won’t dissolve over time, and that the type of snow you use is compatible with liquids. I wouldn’t recommend using water, but if you want to learn how, then I encourage you!
-Here’s a tip- if you can, hot glue your lid down so that it won’t untwist over time and make a huge mess.
-To make the gift more personal, you can paint the outer-side of the ornament with pretty designs. I didn’t do this as my ornaments are plastic, but if you want to, you should!
