How to make the BEST Buttermilk Biscuits
Alright, they might not be the best, but these classic buttermilk biscuits are pretty darn good. I mean everyone likes their biscuits differently, so it really is left up to your personal preference. “They” say Southern people cook certain things better than people from the North, like biscuits. However, for a Boston girl these biscuits are pretty FABULOUS!!

Classic Buttermilk Biscuits
These days everyone is fighting the fat and balancing the wellness, these biscuits do not fall into that category. It is ok to cheat every now and then and make some biscuits with all the fatty goodness, you’ll be glad you did. I mean if you you are gonna make biscuits you go all in with buttermilk and shortening or you might as well just make some toast.
These biscuits take virtually no time and can be made with a bowl and fork, no special mixers needed and only 10minutes in the oven – YOU GOT THIS!
sometimes… classic and simple is the way to go…
- Start by adding all this to a mixing bowl
2. Add in CRISCO – butter favor. If you aren’t using shortening are you even making biscuits? Side Note – make certain it is cold when you add it in.
3. Buttermilk – make certain this is cold as well. Mix it all together, but do not OVERMIX.
This needs mixed a bit more
This is what it should look like before you slap it down onto the counter to kneed it a bit, just a bit.
Make sure the counter is clean and then mess it up by throwing some flour down.
Sprinkle a bit of flour on the biscuit dough directly as well as on the rolling pin.
Roll it out
Cookie cutter – I used the one that is about 2 inches.
