Mary Poppins – Practically Perfect in Every way
Mary Poppins is Practically Perfect in every way and so are these bracelets. Learn how to make these Supercallifragilisticexpialidocious bracelets! Instructions below.
We have also included Saoirse’s journey with the Mary Poppins Jr. Musical.
Our daughter headed back to face to face learning today, January 2021. Mentally, she has done amazing during this covid crap. Her school does a Spring play and having this kid miss out on a play would have been yet another devastation. So after much deliberation this theater kid went back and tried out for “Mary Poppins!
Like Bert sung / said…. “Winds in the east, there’s a mist coming in, like somethin’ is brewin’, about to begin!” We started our day finishing the bracelets for her theater mates and she headed in for tryouts. Feeling great and waiting for results! In the meantime the below quotes were created! Enjoy!

Mary Poppins – Practically Perfect in Every way
We have a tendency to jump in, get excited and go overboard. So why would days before audition be any different!?! Well I had the idea of making these little bracelets out of tape measures to represent one of the scenes in the movie / musical. They can also just be snapped to a backpack. So supplies were ordered.
The idea was for Saoirse to give them all to her theater mates when they started the play, audition day! Just a little something to bring them together and unit them in the theater journey they are about to take. A lot goes into these plays, even the middle school ones, it’s so important to recognize and support them! What I did not count on was… Amazon being delayed. Not sure when I will realize that my little ideas always have me up at 5am finishing things up! But like Mary says… “In every JOB that must be done there is an element of FUN!” So Broadway tunes on, coffee poured and making snap as bracelets as quickly as I can it is. Anyways, they turned out adorable and the kids loved them (I think).

Here are the links to the products we used. The Mary Poppins cut out were made by “Simply Amy”. She does a FAJBULOUS job at creating the things that are in my head. For example the earrings I am wearing were also made by “Simply Amy”. The kit came with the snaps and a bunch of cute little tools – I will post those images towards the bottom,
Mary Poppins – Dressed in Confidence
Alright, while I finished up the bracelets Tiny went to steal my clothes and get ready for her audition. This kid walks tall everyday, in every situation and we are so proud of her for doing the same with this audition. Why? Well because singing is not her cup of tea, so trying out for this part brought it’s share of nerves. An outsider would not have seen this because she was dressed in confidence and sprinkled with glitter! She dressed the part, zipped up her boots… because it is “Today or Never”! She feels she held her own, gave the performance everything she had! She was disappointed that when it came to acting she was asking to read lines for a different role, but she rolled with it.

Mary Poppins – DIY Measuring Tape Bracelets
When making over 30 of these Mary Poppins – Practically Perfect Bracelets it is best to have a system. The parts came while I was on the way to car line – so I tested it out in the car line, that’s normal right? We cut all the tape first, then picked out the button pieces, finally started snappin’ away. Don’t mind my old ass hands n the images. Why have I not had this machine before – these are so friggin’ easy!

When Mary unpacks her magical carpet bag, she digs deep and whips out her measuring tape. She measurers both the children and then herself. Each of them were given a spot on description of themselves, not all glowing. The lesson here is… Mary is the only one that is Practically Perfect. However, we can all bang away at being the BEST version of ourselves. Be very aware of your faults and even more concerned with your strengths… striving for your own version of “Practically Perfect”… know your own measurements!
“First of all, I would like to make one thing quite clear… I NEVER explain anything.”
Throughout the movie and musical you will find many life lessons. One of those lessons is that life… life is messy and it has it’s share of stumbling blocks. Maybe you are cleaning a chimney and you get soot all over you face or maybe you try our for Mary in a musical and you don’t get it. Either way you need to learn to dance on rooftops and don’t let criticism bother you. As Mary says, “First of all, I would like to make one thing quite clear… I NEVER explain anything.” Lesson here… DO NOT APOLOGIZE for who you are.
We took the time to remind Saoirse of her measurements and how amazing she truly is. Her confidence and uniqueness allow her to be pretty self aware and optimistic, she is truly one of the best people to grace the world, never mind the stage. She will be brilliant as “Brill” and kick this parts ass in the musical. And just like Brill she was not exchanged by the fairies and is most certainly not a “nincompoop”!
Today was a day for lessons… a day for growing. A stumbling block fell her way. Our hearts shattered. Many deep breaths were had. Candy, Sushi and ice-cream was consumed… oh and some pickles. Sometimes we have to take those blocks and use them to build an even better version of ourselves. Cheers to having the courage to know better and be better. There is nowhere to go but UP! The play is just a few short months away and we are so excited to see what she does with this fantastic role!
“People who get their feet wet must learn to take their medicine.”
One of the characteristics of Mary that I have always loved is that she carried herself with such amazing Grace. She valued acting proper, being responsible and accepting responsibility. Every action has a consequence and everything we do HAS an impact on others. If you don’t want to take your own medicine… act properly.
