Couscous is a pasta and it is so ridiculously simple to make, you will defintily be adding this to the weekly rotation. It is a wonderful side dish that can be paired with just about anything or serwved alone. However, it can be VERY bland, when made with water. Here is how to make it SUPER tasty!
QUICK AND EASY MEAL – For a quick and easy meal… make the couscous and pair it with some PRE-COOKED chicken.
HOW TO MAKE COUSCOUS
The first thing you will do is boil your liquid, the amount needed will depend on the brand of couscous you purchase (read the back). Now this is important… your liquid… do not use water! Broth, a chicken broth, veggie or beef broth should be your liquid of choice. You can choose which one base don what you will be pairing it with, chicken broth tastes the best! While the liquid is getting ready to boil throw in about a tablespoon of butter and olive oil. The packaging will say to choose, but trust me – add both! We also suggest throwing in a tablespoon on minced garlic and a sprinkle of 2 of black pepper.
Next, add the couscous when the water boils. Stir and immeditaly remove from the heat, stir, cover and set aside for 5 minutes.
Lift the lid after 5 minutes and FLUFF with a FORK!!!
TASTE!!! Give it a taste – you might need to add in some addtional butter and salt based on your taste.
DONE!!!!
BEEFED UP COUSCOUS
Dicing up some veggies and adding AFTER the couscous is cooked adds an amazing crunch. You can saute the veggies first – but we like them cruchy!
