Halloween Birthday Cake – Fun & Easy
What’s better than a birthday cake? Well a Halloween Birthday Cake with Freddy Mercury on top of while chocolate drop that is. Every year I make the kids a special cake on their birthday, for Saoirse’s 15th we combined Halloween and her birthday. It was a success!
As you can se from the video below the hardest part of this cake is deciding where to place everything, I usually buy too many supplies so I have options. The white chocolate drip is rather easy once you convince yourself to just go for it! I actually used it in the holes of the skeleton arms and Freddy Mercury, this gives them an added hold.
Buttercream Frosting
Buttercream Frosting is the flavor we love best and if you are looking for an amazing recipe… here it is!
BAKE YOUR CAKE & GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES
FROST YOUR CAKE
CHOOSE YOUR FROSTING COLOR FOR THE OUTSIDE
We decided to go with a rustic orange look to the cake.
MELT YOUR CHOCOLATE
The drip does work best from the bottle. You can actually use a plastic ketchup bottle from the dollar store if you wish and it works fine. Follow the instructions on the back of the chocolate you choose. We usually melt in a glass dish and then pour into the bottle.
I like to drip the sides, load the top and then finish the chocolate on the top.
DECORATE THE TOP
Even though I start off knowing what I am going to do, I always end up changing it half way thru. You need to be able to adjust your mindset. As you can see from the video I did add a dowel to the cake in the location opposite Freddy to stabilize the cake. The arms acted as my dowels on the left and the right or I would have used dowels there as well. I did pour white chocolate into these holes to make them sturdy.
