NOPE! Some nights you are just not feelin’ it. You don’t want to come up with a meal idea and even if you did you don’t want to cook it. Then you ask the family what they want and they are no help. Finally, someone said mac and cheese so I started there. I think there was a commercial for meatloaf so I decided to pick one up at the grocer. The meat department didn’t have any so this boxed one landed in my cart. I headed up the frozen foods aisle and threw some greens on my cart. The family loved it and it took like zero time and it was an easy clean up. EXACTLY what I was looking for!
BOXED MAC AND CHEESE
YES – this can be screwed up. So… try these little tips to upgrade your boxed mac and cheese to pretty close to homemade. Well maybe not homemade… but definitely better than boxed and the quick comfort food everyone loves.
Mac & Cheese Hack
Ingredients
- 1 box mac & cheese
- ¼ cup warm milk
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 powdered cheese pack
- ½ cup shredded cheese
Instructions
- boil the pasta
- warm the milk and mix in the powdered cheese
- melt the butter and pour over the boiled pasta
- pour the cheesy milk over the buttered pasta and stir
- mix in the shredded cheese – stir
- cover and let it sit for a minute
QUICK AND EASY MEAL IDEA
The meatloaf and spinach both get heated up in the microwave and containers get thrown away. The best part about this is you can prep it a couple hours in advance, plate it and then heat it up right before serving. This way you can clean up the kitchen before dinner! HELLO – WINNING!!! Obviously, you can not eat like this every night – but once in a while is fine. The meatloaf did not have enough sauce – the kids could care less – but Mark needed a little something. There was some left over sloppy joe sauce so we threw that on, perfect.
